  • “Moderate to dense smoke haze was observed to emanate from clusters of hotspots detected in central and southern parts of Sumatra.”

“While some isolated showers are forecast for Sumatra in the coming days, dry weather is expected to persist in parts of central and southern Sumatra, with the prevailing winds likely to continue blowing from the southeast or southwest.

“Under these conditions, the hotspot and smoke haze situation there could worsen, with an increased risk of transboundary smoke haze occurrence,” the alert read.

“This was corroborated by Datuk Wan Abdul Latiff Wan Jaffar, the director-general of Malaysia’s Department of Environment, who said that forest fires in Indonesia had caused transboundary haze to affect East Malaysia.”

“Satellite imagery from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration detected 52 hotspots in Sumatra, 264 hotspots in Kalimantan, and no hotspots detected within (Malaysia),” he was quoted sa saying by Free Malaysia Today.

Indon has spoken: 52 hotspots in Sumatra, 264 hotspots in Kalimantan.

  • State government, the current chief is Saarani Mohamad.

And if you read the history of the company that wins this case, it has been on bad financial position for a long time and has changed ownership multiple times [1].

The company’s application was dismissed in October last year by judicial commissioner Bhupindar Singh. He said the monastery had demonstrated that they were not squatters and had a strong arguable defence to the eviction.

He also said there were triable issues as to whether they had occupied the land with the acquiescence of the company and state authorities.

    Then, suddenly…

The Court of Appeal overturned his judgment.

A three-member bench of the Court of Appeal said the monastery had failed to raise any triable issue to prevent the grant of order.

The bench, comprising Justices Azizah Nawawi, See Mee Chun and Zaini Mazlan, later also rejected an application by the monastery for a stay of execution pending an appeal to the Federal Court.

However, the monastery’s management contested the application, contending that the company could only occupy a small portion of the land as the monastery’s monks have resided and occupied the area for more than 100 years.

They also asked for the application to be dismissed as the company had suppressed material evidence in their application by not disclosing to the court the fact that the land was occupied by the monastery.

  • When it comes to agriculture in Malaysia, one cannot separate it from FELDA. Now, I’m lazy to dig the history of budget on just how much the government pump tax payers money into it since its’ establishment decades ago. Then, comes the promises that the government will forgo all the debt incurred by farmers who are members of the club FELDA. I don’t know the figures, but one can assume it is astronomical.

Then, another promise that RM1 Billion will be channeled to FELDA annually for the next 10 years, total RM10 Billion.

And after all the ‘milking’, this is the state of local produces, heavy dependent on imports, and now lack of clean water, what the actual fucking fuck.

It sounds like a classic ponzi scheme for never ending funding that will never yield any results, but a black hole of cronyism.

It was discussed in Hacker News [1], I think on the contrary, it is very difficult to replicate…if it is true at all…

“Sukbae Lee and Ji-Hoon Kim hit the first sample (the prototype of LK-99) in 1999 trying to prove the theory of their professor Choi Dong-Shik. Around 2017 YoungWan Kwon joined to the team and they got investment enough for to buy an SQUID and a EPR. In 2020, L and K hit with LK99. They tried to submit a paper to Nature, but was rejected. They contacted with HyunTak Kim after read his 2021 paper (the one you point), and HyunTak Kim joined to the team.”

“By the looks of it, to me this is just the once in 5 years rumor cycle. The authors have been working on it for a long time and have been rejected by Nature. Other co-authors have said they weren’t consulted before uploading the paper. The author who uploaded had to give a talk, and for whatever reason uploaded it on Arxiv before uploading, and didn’t expect it would blow up like it has. For official confirmation of room temp superconductor, I would rather go with a big publishing journal group organising a press conference before paying any attention.”

“Been following this very closely. Seems like the one takeaway is that whatever material this is, it’s interesting. It’s also difficult to synthesize in bulk, which is a shame because superconductivity is not easy to observe in non-bulk materials (think: powder).”

“The variables that lead to its formation are not all accounted for yet. The process is understood, but it doesn’t always work. So there must be something missing every now and then.”

Since then, the experiment hasn’t been successfully replicated by others yet.

Arxiv papers aren’t peer reviewed, and if the experiment cannot be replicated, it most likely fraud, it is not uncommon in scientific communities to fabricate research results to secure funding and fame.

However, the first and second release of their publications could be the first and second draft of the paper that they intended to submit into some prestigious science journals. Usually, researchers submit the preprint version to Arxiv and at the same time to peer reviewed publication such as IEEE, ACM, however there is no guarantee for acceptance for the latter. And in this case, if it cannot be replicated, I supposed it won’t get accepted.

If the team has indeed synthesized the LK-99, maybe sending the samples to other researchers will alleviate the concern of hoax, since it is cheap and easy to synthesize ?
