No absolutely not, this will be the only post on the topic and just to be clear anyone caught linking to other instances or gossiping or spreading drama will be banned permanently without hesitation.

It won’t affect them either, this change only affects startrek.website accounts.

Sorry we have a prime directive of sorts, and I can’t give out ammunition that could be used to create drama for users on another instance. If you have an issue with them, take it up with them but please don’t try to involve us.

I mentioned this elsewhere but we consider linking to posts/comments with the intent of directing traffic to “bad” behavior to be brigading and is very much against our rules. The only reason I cited the example I did is because it is something explicitly permitted. We’re not trying to create drama or lob false accusations.
Ultimately we are a small team running a small instance, and we have to be selective about what responsibilities we take on. And as I’ve been repeating, it ONLY affects users here and we don’t have a local only community to post this to (though maybe we should 😛)

We consider linking to posts with a (spoken or unspoken) intent of “shaming” someone else to be bridading, and just to be crystal clear doing so is against our rules and anyone doing it will be banned.
Just because we do not want to host content from another instance, does not mean they deserve to be attacked. They have a right to operate their communities however they please (as do all instances in the Federation).

This change only affects this instance, you won’t notice anything different.

You are on a different instance so this won’t affect your experience :)
That said if you are curious about our instance principles see this link: https://startrek.website/legal

This only affects StarTrek.website users, you are on a different instance so nothing for you will change.

You are actually on a different instance so it doesn’t affect you!

FYI your account is on a different instance, so this won’t affect you.
You specifically are not wanted because our sensors detected you were carrying a briefcase labeled “bribe money” that was actually full of borg nanites.
There are definitely some weird people who want the clout of owning a “popular” instance, but mark my words they will flame out soon enough if popularity is the root of their desire. Instance management is a lot of tedious work and if you don’t have a passion for facilitating conversation and connecting people you’re not going to last. This isn’t Reddit where a powermod can just sit there and do the bare minimum for free.
Instance admin here, this is backwards. Instance costs increase with the number of users because we don’t sell ads. The only people we want signing up for accounts on our instance are people who are excited to be there, and intend to bring their singular wit and conversational A-game.

I…don’t know that there’s much of any real point to this post. I don’t know a lot of people who watch Trek and wanted to share
Literally the point of this entire instance :)

It appears that perhaps a transporter accident has duplicated this post…

Might as well had been a million, I don’t think it could have gone better! ❤️

I have no idea where you’re seeing a million, I’m seeing 1,300. But that’s still very high for the fediverse! And it’s definitely the highest we’ve ever had in one of our local communities.
They have a right to operate however they see fit, and we have strict rules about linking to other instances with the intent of shaming someone or influencing their policy. If you have questions about dbzer0’s policies I recommend you take your questions to them.
