Hello everyone =) Any fandomy news? Any fandomy plan? Let’s hear about it!
–
I am apparently cycling between “too dead to function, much less write more than a few sentences” → “writing a fill for a prompt in one sitting in a feverish daze” → “struggling to typocheck and post because too tired” and back to the start. That’s… not ideal.
The good news is that despite this I’m still going strong with the daily microfics, and I’m still writing daily even if some days it’s just literally one sentence. Any word is better than none after all.
The complex news is that there is new content for the currently-releasing game in my fandom and I’m too tired to play it. I feel very much like a frustrated mess x’)
Also this is the last week before the event “Finish What You Started” that focuses on finishing fan projects we started before the first day of the event. It runs from March 1st to April 30th and I’ll be participating to hopefully tackle some older WIPs from fandoms I lowkey fell out of. The Fall edition of last year helped me finish… three fics and one crochet pattern, so I’m hoping I can do nice things this time too!
(If posting the link to the event is not allowed I can edit, just tell me!)
Health is… healthing. I’m barely keeping up with anything I want to do. On the other hand, I’m reading a bit more. My newest fandoms are Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss and I need more of both of those.
I do like finishing what I’ve started. I’d be doing that anyway, so I’ll be sure to be participating! Even if it is just in spirit.
I’m sorry your health is not being kinder to you ='( But yay for reading and new fandoms! I hope these can offer a silver lining to the situation =S
It’s sure helping out! Fandom can be such a balm during these trying times. C:
Health can be…fun… I’m sorry to hear yours seems to be particularly… in it right now.
I’ve only heard of one of those fandoms. I’ll need to explore some more. :)
They are both from the same creator and take place in the same world. So if you like one, you will probably like the other one. I adore HH, but I prefer the character focus in HB a lot more. Somehow I’m not surprised, considering HH is the one which got picked up by Amazon and HB is the free one on Youtube.
For the good news, while my brain was braining super hard, I ended up writing two ~2k stories for HB while I couldn’t sleep. I like how they both turned out, so even if the entire process was pure pain, at least I made some great pieces from it. :)

^
This is such a mood.I wrote an entire fic in one sitting as a primer, and now I’m stuck halfway through another, but brainstorming maniacally.
Am very intrigued by this “Finish What You Started” event, despite not generally being a big events type. (I don’t dislike them, they just don’t always align with my energy and therefore they’re not as useful to me much of the time. )
This weekend was a bit more busy, but in a pleasant way, as we got to see some loved ones and we’re making progress on acclimating a couple of adopted cats. :)
Well, maybe this event would be more to your taste then, given it’s a low engagement, “do what you can when you can” event ^^ There’s no sign-up, no objective set in stone, it’s really more of a way for people to cheer on each other for a common goal of finishing stuff. Some people do word sprints, some ask for an accountability buddy, some post todo lists… but also some just hang out and clap when someone finishes something. The admin makes posts with tips and/or motivation stuff. It’s very chill unless you personally asked for it not to be =)
Good to know you had a nice weekend ♥
I lately got into a fandom for an older indie game, and I never expected it would have any fanworks, and if it did, I expected them to have been written years ago. But when I looked on AO3, there was just one fic, written a little over two weeks prior. The author was really grateful for my comment, responding with one twice as long as mine…something that’s never happened to me before! A few months later, someone else commented, and posted a fic of their own a few days afterwards. I really want to keep the momentum for this fandom going, and it’s finally given me the boost of motivation I needed to finish—and publish—my first fanfic. It’s not done yet, but I have about a thousand words written as of right now.
That’s always a nice feeling. I love the surprise of finding that something old has new interest at the same time as I’ve figured out about it (or started looking into it). Good luck with the writing! I hope your fandom continues to grow in stories~
On the bright side, this magazine has enough activity that just making a new thread doesn’t jump it to the front on hot/top. On the other, need to remember to click on new to make sure I don’t miss Roundups!
On a more “capitalists ruin more things” tumblr is going to join the other big name sites and sell their user’s art and images to their choice of AI. Technically not officially announced and it’s rumours. But given Tumblr’s record of horrible choices I would not be surprised. Further reminder for me to start fixing up my Pillowfort and such lol aaaaa
I’m 3 pages away from finishing my latest comic oneshot. I’m who knows how far away from finishing any pure-text oneshot.
I’m still emotionally shot. Anxiety is amped and it doesn’t take much for me to panic. But hey, I’m existing.
Congrats on those microfics! And thank you for sharing the event. That’s a nice one to vibe with~ (helped you finish 3 fics and a pattern? Insane!)
Congrats on existing! That’s already plenty badass in the current chaos. Sending strength both for your creative projects and for your Pillowfort fixing. It’s really a shame that tumblr can’t stay out of the “let’s break everything” party.
And no problem for sharing the event, it helped me so now I want it to also help others =)
Noooo! Tumblr! Not you too!
Anxiety is brutal when amped and it can take a long while to recover from being emotionally maxed out on top of things. That is genuinely okay, just in case it helps to hear it. (I have to remind myself often enough.)
Very late but wanted to say thank you, it does help!
Not late at all! I hope things are improving.
And I hope Tumblr has not yet given into the darkness…
It’s improved in the sense that I have found new stim toys to abuse! So hurray for distractions I guess??
Tumblr has. There is now a setting (that they did not announce) to turn on/off your blogs to be used for AI data. Yes, its separate for each blog you might have. Yes, its location is different depending on if you mobile or pc.
A good distraction can be priceless. There are some great stim toys on craft sites. People make them as jewelry, gadgets, what have you. :)
