the diff can tell me everything i need to know about the commit, the message is supposed to tell me why it’s a commit at all.

I’m not surprised, but holy crap is this going to lead to a lot of hot potato and absolute messes when it comes to branch checkout decisions. Wouldn’t surprise me if businesses decline to download this, or move over to another IDE like CLion just to keep some sort of clarity.
