Totally worth a recurring paid plan, it’s one of the key features for me, as it enables much better community discussions.

Not planned atm as it requires quite a bit of work to set up a backend service etc. Would definitely have to be a recurring cost, servers are just way too expensive. If I did a one-time purchase I’d risk having to pay a lot of extra costs myself if the estimate is just slightly off or if server pricing increases too much
Apollo had good model for features like this. Once pay - pro version (general features without any ads) or subscription - premium version (general features plus push notifications and icon packs).
