Fun Lenin fact: he actually got mummified because of the worldwide King Tut craze that was going on at the time as the result of the discovery of his tomb. Even Pravda ran frequent articles about it, and after Lenin died in 1924 the Soviets cashed in on it and mummified him - in a remarkable amateurish fashion, since nobody had been mummified in Russia for centuries prior.

Love how people think gamers hate female main characters but those same people get mad at gamers liking characters like Lara Croft.

I’ve literally never seen someone get mad because a regressive liked a diverse PC. It’s always people upset that there are diverse PCs to begin with, lashing out at people celebrating representation.

I’m not sure if it’s what they’re referencing, but regressives get yelled at for liking female characters all the time: when they’re objectifying them.

Like with Lara Croft, “hey, give her big tits and short shorts back!1” gets pretty obvious pushback almost every time it’s seriously stated. It’s not like she’s ever been portayed as remotely ugly.

To be fair, most male characters have equally unrealistic looks. They’ve got more muscle in their necks than I got in my calf and can take gunshots to the face and lose 5 hp. Not that objectification and sexualization of women in games are not real issues though.

I mean, they’re both issues in the same way: society has an unhealthy relationship with power fantasy. They don’t think it’s fiction in that who is portrayed is unrealistic, only in what is portrayed. As in, since it’s a real actor, people think it’s actually attainable for most, and judge others as if they’re merely lazy for not being an action hero.

It happens more fiercly for women since they’re aesthetically judged more, but it’s the same thing. The main problem is the judgements from normalization and lazy thought. It’s not inherently bad to be pretty or strong or sexy, but it is bad to judge others for not being so.

The same thing happens with power and authority itself. People objectify and seek power for the very aesthetic, or for power’s sake itself, instead of using it as the dangerous tool it is. (although due to the nature of power, it is always negative to someone, usually those on the recieving end)

I remember when Final Fantasy 7 was coming out, they actually made charts showing the reduction in boob size for Tifa Lockhart, and then blamed it on woke

          Just one of many examples

It’s cognitive dissonance. Getting angry over game with female protagonist is just a loud minority anyways.
