im not sure if youre joking but matt groening created the simpsons which is a fictional cartoon that premiered on fox broadcasting company, an entirely different company than news corp which created fox news and which existed nearly a decade before the simpsons did.
No, it took a while to get really bad. It was always right leaning and not great reporting but it wasn’t until the success of Bill O’Reilly in the oughts that it went completely off the rails. If you haven’t seen it you should watch John Stewart on Crossfire.Crossfire was Tucker Carlson’s first big show back when Fox was first starting to get really bad and was competing with Comedy Central instead of other news organizations. Stewart killed the show in one interview. How? By telling them that they were hurting America and asking them to stop.
I think a show with hidden satire like simpsons aired on such a network (fox, if it was like it is today ( i don’t know, I am young and not American)) would be a funny achievement 🤔
Many people have boycotted american products and EU are investing a ton of money in production, so that we don’t need to be dependent on america, since it can’t be trusted and it’s people either think it’s someone elses problem, thinks the country is to big to do anything (despite a historic civil war), or is to afraid to risk their comforts.
It’s in america, by americans. Where does it stop? With americans.
youre not wrong when you state he helped create fox news, not sure why you’re so heavily downvoted
1980 - News corp created
1989 - The Simpsons airs
why would Matt Groening do this
why would he contribute to the success of a bad news organization? for the $$$ baby, just like everything else in this cruel, cruel world 😎

thanks for the info! was fox news as divisive back in the 90s as it is today? if so, why would he work with them?

true
Fox Broadcasting Company is/was a subsidiary of News Corp, now “Fox Corporation” which is owned by the same people.
The name changed to Fox Corporation when they sold their entertainment portfolio to Disney.
Disney owns the Simpsons.
Is one of those people Matt fucking Groening? Because otherwise it’s a stupid claim. Did Sean Hannity create the Simpsons?
Just like all the US tax payers killed children, right?
well, yes. thats why americans should be upset
So where does the blame stop then?
Are you serious?
Yes. Where does the blame stop when we’re all apparently responsible for all the bad shit on the world?

Did @big_slap@lemmy.world mention the world, or just america?
But, the world bought our stuff, that produced income, that became taxes, that paid for military. His question it’s legit. Where does it stop?

when we get the money out of politics
Ah yes… Impractical idealism. It never fails to do nothing with its obvious, simple answers.
yup!
I know why.
