So, sometimes I pretend to be a wizard and roll some dice about it. If one of my players showed up in armor it’d be badass. It’s a hobby. Few things are more cringe than furry hate.

The key difference being you’re playing a game.

If one of your players showed up wearing a fedora, hentai body pillow, and hadn’t bathed in 7 days would you still be as happy?

No because they should bathe and take their body pillow to a group around that. Idgaf what kind of hat they wear though.

That’s the thing here, furry events are the time and place for furry stuff. It’s like how people dress weird and hit each other in dungeons and wrestling rings. People dress weird and say strange things in religious buildings. People dress weird, talk weird, pretend to be someone they aren’t, and often stink at Renaissance festivals. Times and places. I’m not gonna judge their hobby just like I won’t judge the SCA

So it’s a hobby and not an identity now?

Its completely separate from being LGBTQ+. Good.

Yeah that’s how I’ve always seen it. But it is a hobby they use as a stand in for queer people a lot. They love to say anti furry things and then use it as a justification before also doing transphobia. They’ve been correlating the two for at least a decade. And there’s also homophobia present in a lot of anti furry sentiment.

Bullshit. That’s the same shit used against drag queens and crossdressers. People who were instrumental to lgbtq history. I’d have thought someone “not straight” would’ve known better.

You’d be surprised. I’ve even encountered a lot of gay people who are against the ‘T’ or the ‘BT’ in LGBT.

Being gay certainly makes you more likely to be progressive, but I’ve learned it definitely doesn’t guarantee it.

Plenty of gay people are regressive, hateful fuckwits.

I’d suggest you read the g/acc manifesto. Some people do believe they’re animals and should be encouraged to express their kinship with them. Queering society as such is something you should be all for if you’re “not straight”. I say this as a trans woman who’s been around the community for a decade- identity is fucking complicated. Reductive logic like this is NOT applicable and actively harmful, even. therian/xenogender people, you’re fucking awesome and I love you all.

Uh no, those ones in particular should be getting legitimate psychiatric help, just like someone believing they’re Jesus should.

And they are not part of the community because they are not a sexuality or gender. Stop weakening the movement by lumping every random alt thing into it.

The “movement” has historically BEEN A PART OF EVERY RANDOM ALT THING and is growing to do exactly that! Acceptance is important. But I bet you get real butthurt when you see somebody dressed up like a cartoon animal at pride, huh?

                No it has not.

And do you think a person who believes their Jesus should or should not be getting help?

I believe the “help” in the best of countries is lacking because of ignorance and stigma and the best people fitting that description are the other half of that problem. But also let people be animals or fairies or cryptids or what have you, the world is bleak enough and we’re all unhinged in our own ways. Like honestly it’s this, acceptance and tolerance pushed to new extremes (something I think we socially as humans totally underdo) OR depressing military cyborgs + authoritarianism in the cards if not a more mundane climate crisis and/or world resource war…maybe even all of the above? Anyways -thanks for considering my thoughts and I really, really do recommend this as a good read regarding the actual definitions of gender and sexuality and why nuance and inclusivity in regards to this topic is so important: https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/vikky-storm-the-gender-accelerationist-manifesto
