There’s actually not much reason to believe this quote came from Lenin. At that point pretty much the only person of significance seeing Lenin was his wife Krupskaya, and she had beef with Stalin. Also, the document she provided as proof didn’t have the signature (or maybe initials? Something like that) Lenin included in all his other writing from the same period, so really it’s more likely Krupskaya just wanted to undermine Stalin.
That quote is basically the equivalent of “Finding Jesus” on the deathbed.
