    @georgetakei@universeodon.com and the second part of the mission collecting the Highland Division from St Valery was cancelled completely by fog, abandoning them to their fate.

    (nothing to do with the fact that St Valery was a really bad choice, with a high cliff behind it, making it almost impossible to approach safely from the sea )

    Kinzinger was in the WI ANG. I’ll be damned.

    I was setting up to get into that Guard straight from the Air Force, and central to that was a party I was throwing for them and all Wisconsinites near Frankfurt AB in Germany, 1977.

    And it would have worked, too, if those meddling Baader-Meinhof kids hadn’t blown up the O’Club the afternoon before the party.

    @georgetakei@universeodon.com Wait what? But that’s all part of the story, the decision the weather forecasters had to make and the generals listening to them, all the ships loaded etc. etc. heck and bells, its one of those many facts we knew as kids. Who is this bloke anyway?

    @georgetakei@universeodon.com “A little rough weather…”.

    Sure dude, because a football game should come with frost bite of your dick and hypothermia. Otherwise you’re just a weakling for not showing up…

    Ffs, these people are politicizing extreme weather.
