Firefly - the new season is taking FOREVER man!
the one i really wanna finish but still haven’t gotten to is “the wire”. watched the first two seasons, loved em, never started the third. always feels like it’ll be too much for me, somehow.
Hellsing Ultimate had year long gaps between each episode, exacerbated by the tsunami + Fukushima incident. That said, it was so damn good that whenever a new episode came out, even if I was out of it I would rewarch the whole shebang.
i forgot writers strike twice had ruined alot of good shows.
Breaking Bad. I watched S01 when it came out but then totally forgot about it after that. Didn’t finish it until S05 was out.
ITT people who only read the part of the title before the commaThis post actually reminded me that I still have to watch Russian Doll season 2, which i completely forgot about because it came out 3 years after season 1.
The next season of Sherlock on Masterpiece Mystery will be coming any
day yeardecade nowfirefly. didn’t continue after finishing the first season and the movie.
I’m not sure if this is a joke but that’s all there was of that show, no?
Whoosh :-p
No, after Serenity, there was a second season released in 2014.
No, there wasn’t.
Are you outside the US?
I had to double check because I’d totally watch a second season but Firefly only got one 14 episode season. When it aired in the US though, they only aired 11 episodes and they aired out of original intended order. Maybe you’re somewhere they split the release of season one in two parts?
Attack on Titan, my god. Not even between seasons, literally in the middle of a season and they’re just like ok we’re gonna take a 2 year break now!
At least One Punch Man has the courtesy to put their breaks in between seasons properly.
If I ever have “Fuck you money” Im going to buy the western distribution rights for a bunch of Animes, hire an editor to go through Animes, and edit out the recap of the previous episode, the title sequence, the annoying mid episode break and the next episode preview then smash the whole season into one long movie.
a friend tried to get me to watch One Piece, I looked up how many episodes there were and I said fuck that lol
there probably are fan edits
I was curious so I looked up how many episodes there were. I agree, fuck that haha
The fan edit is called One Pace. But I would just recommend reading the manga, the anime is pretty crap
IMO you can just watch the last episode recap and next episode preview and get 99% of the content.
Preach.
Yeah, still haven’t watched the finale. I mean, how often did they pull this “final episodes of the final half of the final part of the final season” shit?!
if you watched the comics on yt,
spoiler
___ basically eren dies have getting beheaded by mikasa.
:::
Yeah, I watched that when I thought the final episodes were released, but things suddenly ended after they were fighting in Marley (or whatever it’s called). Might want to add a spoiler tag, just to be safe :)
oh yea that was insane, like 4 seasons over almost 10 years. i compare it to INvincible which also had a huge gap in between seasons. why the fuck is it 4 months between half of season 2, everyone forgot about that. then the animation started to get worst and worst. at this rate invincible might take as long AOT to finish the series(estimated 8-10years). and its only 8 episodes per season, surely they can finish it quickly since its not like its a 20-30 episode arcs. by that time everyone already have read the comics/or watched a live narration of said comics of the invincible series and are probably over it already.
and AOT around the last seasons , the animations were pretty bad too.
Yeah that pretty much ruined the hype for me. By the time the actual finale came out, I was basically just watching it to get it over with. No more excitement or anticipation.
Just wait, they’re gonna release “The final finale: finality, the fourth final half of the final part of the finale” any day now!
I feel like Stranger Things is headed for this (for me at least). It’s been so long since S4 and the hype around it, it feels increasingly difficult to get that excited about S5. The longer it takes, the more I forget about ST.
I love that show but it’s been so long I barely remember the last season
Stranger Things kinda lost me when it went full blown evil Russia hiding under the CIA science lab and trying to redeem the Nazi doctor guy. Like I get that it’s steeped in 80s tropes but it would have been fun to see them subvert that instead of having the little black girl that should have been mourning the loss of the Black Panthers and talking shit about the Move bombing (which would have JUST happened in the show). Instead she is capitalism’s biggest cheerleader and it comes off as incredibly tone def.
Yes. But I’ve forgotten them.
Are you sure?
Not entirely.
Caprica, the 1-season Battlestar Galactica prequel. I liked it more than most people, but even I dropped off when they had a 6 month gap in the middle of the season.
Stranger Things. Season 4 took almost 3 years, during which time I had finally cancelled Netflix. I’m vaguely interested in watching the rest of the show, but not until it’s done.
Westworld. Never quite finished season 3, and having yet another 2 year wait (after similar gaps between earlier seasons) meant I stopped caring.
I forgot how bad the Stranger Things scheduling was. I guess it’s supposed to finally finish this year?
they couldve done caprica better, or did a different series, like the cylon war era series instead, before reimagined BSG, and including all the tech that was suppose to be in the series, because the showrunner hated lasers, and energy weapons in the recent series.
Westworld lost its appeal after season 1 anyway
Under the Dome, there was quite a lot of hype because of the book of the same name by Stepfen King, but the show was not good. I stopped watching in the middle of the first season.
Did you read the book? I vaguely remember both and I feel like when the show veered from the book is when it started to go off the rails.
No, but I heard good things about it. I probably would have if the show was any good.
It’s apparently very hard to do a Stephen King adaptation. For every good one there’s 5 complete failures plus a movie that only used the name and ignored the plot (looking at you, lawnmower man, dark tower, and running man)
Nearly every show cause I have ADHD.
Mare do you hang out in !adhd@lemmy.dbzer0.com there’s many amusing memes about us neuros there. And fyi !autism@lemmy.world is for all of us not just autism
This is why I have a meticulously curated list of shows I’ve watched and the episode I am currently at in Obsidian with dataviews and all 😀
Setting up https://wiki.servarr.com/ helps with the latter since it’ll just turn up in Jellyfin one day when a new season miraculously appears, huzzah! 🎉 Also is great when you suddenyy get movies you have no idea what they are about years after adding them 😸
The Walking Dead. I started because it was popular when it came out, plus Frank Darabont directing. Season 1 was good, then AMC fired him. Seasons 2 and 3 dragged so I stopped after 3. Fast forward to the end of the series and my fiance wanted to watch the episodes as they came out. My first reaction was “why the fuck are there Stormtroopers in this zombie show?”
The last walking episode I remember was someone pissing next to a field for what felt like 10 minutes.
I’ve heard there’s a cool baseball bat guy I’ve missed but stormtroopers I didn’t know about
i heard it was only good in season 1.
Yeah it pretty much is, they fired Frank right before shooting season 2, they demanded 13 episodes a season up from 6, as well as budget cuts out the ass. YMS has a short series about the differences between 1 and 2 if you’re interested.
