    Explanation: Julian ‘the Apostate’ was the last Roman Emperor who followed paganism instead of Christianity. As he was a throwback who spent too much time reading history, he believed that the Emperor was not a monarch but ‘first-amongst-equals’, encouraged religious equality in the Empire, and was an intellectual who was reasonably humble. For obvious reasons, he gets very lionized amongst non-Christians, while Christians tend to have a dimmer view of his short reign.
