#WhatchaReading ? I’m still sniffling after finishing Stars in Your Eyes by Kacen Callender. Painful but beautifully tender and hopeful m/m romance that explores how abuse and trauma can negatively impact a relationship. Checking the CWs highly recommended!
Excellent full cast audiobook, which does justice to the partially epistolary “multimedia” structure. One of the narrators seems to be NB, though both main characters are apparently cis.
@willaful @romancelandia @romancebooks really enjoyed the unconventional romance that was Stars in Your Eyes!! Glad you loved it too!
I’m reading nothing! Sad but true. Ah well.
It’s got “fake dating” and “grumpy/sunshine” tropes and does so much more with them than I’m used to seeing.
Also, I forgot to mention that both characters are Black, and Hollywood actors.
@willaful @romancelandia @romancebooks My local bookclub just read “Attachments” by Rainbow Rowell. One of the most unromantic romances novels I have ever read. It’s got an interesting premise (IT guy falls for a colleague after reading all her emails that keep getting flagged) but the FMC had few redeeming qualities (literally a stalker who had a live-in boyfriend for most of the book) and it went off the rails.
@PamelaMcMuffin Awww, I’m sorry you didn’t like it. It’s a big favorite of mine. I like seeing people like my husband and friends in books and it doesn’t happen that often. (Not stalkers! Geeks. ;-) ) @romancelandia @romancebooks
@willaful @romancelandia @romancebooks I loved Lincoln, the MMC. I’m a Computer Engineer and I’m the only person in my book club who wasn’t calling him a loser. I was just hoping he’d end up with someone else. 😀
Beth (the FMC) completely lost me when she told her friend that she was partially at fault for her miscarriage.
