I feel you. I genuinely do.
In my experience, most people making online content (youtube, tiktok) are simply showing-off techniques that work for them. That’s MUCH different than teaching a technique. Teaching would involve understanding of how other faces are shaped and showing/describing how one given technique can be applied in other use cases (or when it’s not advised at all).
I’m still a struggling beginner, but the thing I’m focusing on right now is getting a firm handle on the fundamentals: good subtle foundation application, simple eyeshadow/eyeliner combos, brows, blush and lips. Contouring comes later. EVERYTHING else comes later.
One resource that I really liked was the online classes that Melissa Murdick runs, https://www.theprettyfix.com/ . I’m not sure if she’s still running her beginners classes, but these were legitimately helpful for me, taught at the right pace and sticking to core principles that work for trans femme faces.
Good luck!
You probably don’t want to regularly use drag style makeup but there are good beginner tutorials for drag makeup that can help with techniques for feminizing a more masculine face. You should be able to tone down the colors and effects and get to a daily look that you like using the same techniques.
Second wayne goss. I also spent a lot of time looking at “adrogynous” tutorials and r/adrogynous and enby posts even though I am a transfem. These tend to work well even though its less than passing on me, its makeup. Also hot clown girls provide the inspiration required to keep going.
Edit: masculine face shapes? You might have hooded eyes. Like me! Alexandra Anele has multiple great videos about what to do. Accentuating the features youve got rather than simply following a tutorial thoughtlessly.
Wayne Goss teaches techniques. I learned eyeliner and eyeshadow from him.
This is the biggest aspect of being a transwomen that is just plain hard because unlike ciswomen we are not normally given our teenage years to experiment and learn. Most of use are adults that have to just go from not wearing make up to having normal make up routine. Because of this any mistake to us feels like a flag we are a trans.
This is where I started, there are a few others as long as you stay away from Blair White. https://youtu.be/fi7_6SqretM?si=eosZlj-GEp_4kPjO
