1 full week now into having my OLED LD. Previously sold my LCD.

Assuming one buys a Steam Deck because of daily responsibilities and life alone. Then consider the total time you would spend on the deck. After a long day of work. The few hours left after kids asleep. The few hours after partners content.

You deserve the superior OLED screen considering this is likely a full time substitute of a PS5/PC

Gaming experience and speed is far superior and noticeable than LCD

Heat and fan noise is reduced compared to LCD

Battery is superior and so important considering we primarily bought this for the purpose of mobility.

We’re all going to die one day.

You deserve the OLED! Don’t buy LCD as first timer. LCD remnants, seriously consider it!

My feelings exactly! As my main gaming device, I have been using the LCD for 19 month, couple of evenings a week. The OLED is the perfect upgrade that anyone deserves. Good guy Valve is seriously trying to undersell the OLED to not give any LCD owners buyers remorse or FOMO.

If I could sell my current LCD model, I’d absolutely upgrade. But I’d have to do it locally and I’m an American living in Taiwan. So, yeah, hurdles.

I agree with OP 100%. Upgraded to an OLED and I’ve been blown away for the past few days. Games are miles better looking. The lighter weight is also underrated. To me, it’s very much worth the upgrade from OG if it won’t break the bank.

90Hz is what made me go from LCD to OLED. More than the benefits of OLED itself. I consider it quite futureproof for the low-spec games I play and staying on LCD would be a pity for these next few years.

I’ll probably still get the 2nd gen deck, though…

I’m holding out for a hardware refresh but if I didn’t already own one I’d have gone for the OLED.

I’m happy with my LCD one and the main thing I’d want is more power.

It surely is not a substitute for my pc as much as I love my deck it’s nowhere near a pc substitute.

I will always prefer playing a game on my pc. On a 27" Screen with superior resolution and higher settings with higher refresh rate than the deck.

    I would only consider a SD2

Well, since the SD is so damn far away from being a full time substitute to my actual gaming rig I won’t consider getting one.

Good take. Simple. To the point. Now we need the counter-arguement for those to abstain OLED and be LCD die-hard.

    Any takers?

As an ‘LCD remnant’, no I will not.

I’ll save my money for when the Steam Deck 2 comes out, pre-equipped with an OLED.

As someone who ordered an OLED Steam Deck yesterday, without owning an LCD one, this makes me feel more confident in my purchase
