So this car randomly caught my eye, and as I owned a cobalt before and enjoyed it quite a bit, I thought this would be fun to check out.
The idea of the car’s grown on me, but from the obvious high mileage, there’s some other points of concern I have with it.
Granted: The owner has given a lot of TLC to this car as he got it at 50k miles and has used it as his daily since 2015. It’s had mods put into it.
The suspension feels good. The owner got the car up on jack stands in their garage and let me look around. No play / wiggle for the most part, and no funky sounds when handling on roads that clearly need more TLC. The frame underneath also seemed really clean and rust-free. And that car KICKS without even pushing it much (for a cobalt at least, lol).
The concerns I have: Engine / Turbo longevity, a radiator hose leak and a check engine light Code P0627 - Fuel Pump A Control Circuit / Open. He says this is from the Opel fuel injectors he put in needing a tune. Does this line up with anyone else’s experiences when switching injectors?
I’m not sure how this could affect the engine’s performance, especially depending on how long it’s been running like this, but I would like to know your perspectives on this.
The price is low, and this feels like it’d be a fun car to learn on. At the same time, I really don’t want to be in a position where the car just bricks on me right after getting it.
If anyone has any advice, words of caution, whatever, please have at it. I’m doing a lot of homework on this car before I even think of buying it.
My friend bought one for 1000, running and driving and it blew up 5 days after, but it was pretty fast when it ran. Beat my gto
