It’s a bit of a bait post honestly, as the last line literally says if you’re still unhappy after trying to use the device then they’re happy to follow through with the process.

Dead pixels and stuck pixels are different and both exist. Given the absolute frenzy that’s been whipped up by the reddit over this topic, I can’t imagine how many RMAs are being handled for stuck pixels that would have resolved on their own.

Of course, I hope all Deck purchasers get a perfect machine and that should be the aim, but I think you’re only feeding the fire when they’ve been pretty reasonable here to you.

They’re not wrong though. Have had a few devices over the years that had a dead pixel or a few for one reason or another. Some very much do fix themselves over time.

For phones and tablets using Android, there’s actually apps that you can use that flash the screen red, green and blue rapidly in an effort to fix the pixel(s), though I’m unsure if a similar app exists in Linux.

Honestly, depending on the position and kind of state the pixel is in (off/stuck) I’d be on their side. I’ve had a few phones with dead imoled pixels some of them fixed, some of them didn’t but it wasn’t a big deal because of the position. Up to you, at least you could try to refresh them 🤷

If you write back to us within 30 days and are still experiencing issues that you believe call for an RMA, we’d be happy to offer a repair or replacement service as appropriate.

I used to handle warranty replacements and RMA processing for another company. This response is not unreasonable in the slightest.

The title comes off as if Valve told you to stuff it, but they’re fully willing to replace the product for you.

Wait a few days, see if the problem is still there, then ask for an RMA.

This tells to not check my panel at all since I can’t tell if there are any dead pixels anyway 😂😭

I think their supply of replacement screens hasn’t come in yet, and they are trying to curb some of the repair requests until they come in.

I’ve lived my life with a couple of monitors that had 1 or 2 dead pixels and after a short bit of time I never noticed them again unless the screen was black. So, I mean, yeah it’s not that bad, I guess. I still wouldn’t want one though.
