Hello everyone,

on my 1997 Civic EK4 I recently got my clutch pressure plate, disc and release bearing replaced. And since they were at it, I also got my gearbox opened to change the third gear synchro since it gave me problems before. After around 800 kilometres (roughly 500 miles) second and third gear make a grinding noise when accelerating, fourth pops out every time and fifth and first seem to be fine. Moreover, sometimes gears struggle to go in. My clutch cylinders are soon to be replaced because they’re done, could those be the cause of all of this?

TL;DR 500 miles after clutch and third gear synchro+sleeve replacement, gears struggle to go in + rattling/grinding noise under acceleration in second and third, fourth pops out as soon as I accelerate. Could it be bad slave and master clutch cylinder since they were already giving me problems?

Little update: it’s not really a grinding noise when accelerating (english is not my first language my bad) but more of a rattling/vibration in second and third, a vibration that increases with rpm. Seeing how one of the gearbox seals has started leaking and fourth pops out, could the gearbox just be misaligned?

Bearings would explain some. Another dodgy gear might explain more. Sounds like it needs/needed a full rebuild.
