That sounds less like they’re specifically gunning for a hybrid powertrain and more like “we want a gigantic battery that can power lasers, industrial grade electronics… Oh and I guess it can be hooked up to the wheels too”. It seems like they’re actually just wanting an alternator but there’s no alternator that could actually perform what they need.

I loved driving MATVs, there’s something freeing about a shitload of torque from a giant 6 cylinder that WILL tip if you even consider turning faster than 5mph. Oh, and the fuel economy is in “GPM”, not MPG

The DOD spends an enormous amount of money and effort moving fossil fuels around the planet. More efficient vehicles decrease those costs.

These hybrids will make nice technicals for the enemy when we leave them in a war zone during an unmitigated disaster of a retreat.

Umm that can’t be right? You’re telling me that the HUGE diesel engines and generators in these modern armored vehicles can’t power additional electronic equipment such as anti-drone lasers lol? Not saying that you’re wrong it’s just that the benefits of a hybrid system in a Stryker is probably much more in other aspects than just some additional equipment… Or?
