I had my iPhone 13 pro since the launch and had its battery replaced once under apple care+ not because the battery was failing but because I smashed the phone completely and had to have the rear side replaced entirely.
So luckily when I switched to iPhone 15 pro from iPhone 13 pro, I still had a 100% battery health on my 13 pro.
I had big expectations when I upgraded… but I am noticing so much overheating and battery drainage on my new iPhone 15 pro. I can confirm that iPhone 15 pro battery goes down faster than my iPhone 13 pro given that both have 100% battery health!! I am doing the exact same things and I don’t know why this newest phone is being so problematic. It burns like crazy randomly, too. I haven’t found out a trigger, but this phone randomly decides to become a hand warmer and it just makes me get worried about the further battery health decline.
Another minor annoying thing is, and I am actually unsure if this only applies to me, but the rounded edges are very uneven on my iPhone 15 pro. The small gap between the side panel and the rear panel don’t flush completely and this part keeps on getting caught in my hand / scratching my palm and it’s driving me crazy. Maybe this is because I’m too used to the edged sides of my old phone??
What are your experiences? For those who jumped from 13 pro to 15 pro, I want to hear your thoughts.
Everyone has their preference.
For me, next to the iPhone 4S - the 15 Pro is hands down my favorite iPhone I’ve ever had.
I have 13 pro max, I bought a 15 pro max within the launch month and returned it within a week. I was struggling to find any good reasons to keep it. Also maybe a personal preference here but Dynamic Island is such an eye sore when compared to the notch and that’s saying a lot cause notch is already bad enough.
I hate the notch, but I hate the Dynamic Island more. The notch was less noticeable, to me, and not some black bar floating at the top of my screen that does nothing other than providing cute animations. The Dynamic Island, in my opinion, is apples worst design choice ever. Close second is adding a notch to the MacBooks.
The DI stood out to me for the first few weeks but I eventually got used to it. I still “see” it but I find uses for it so I’ve grown to be neutral about it. Still, I do find myself missing the notch tho.
I’ve had the exact opposite experience.
I did experience battery drain issues but that was quickly fixed with the 17.1 update (it was definitely software related).
So far I’ve had no issues and I’ve enjoyed the 15 Pro over my 13 Pro significantly.
I have my phone running on the latest ios since it came out. Starting to think I got a bad batch of an iPhone 15 pro…
I still use my spouses iPhone 13 Pro from time to time and it’s basically the same phone as my 15 pro. Most of the overheating issues were fixed and the 15’s battery life is objectively better than the 13.
I have the 13 pro max, my phone overheats when I use the apple notes. Even my iPad Pro gets extremely warm with the notes app.
yes.
Switched from 13 PM to 14 PM. When in first switch encountered the problems OP mentioned. But within a month or two of updates all was well. After that I cracked the back glass (accidentally) and scratched the front (not so accidentally) and for the price of two apple care repairs (front glass/back glass) got a brand new phone 14PM with no issues.
Give the 15 Pro to me then.
I miss my 13 Pro Max but I don’t hate my 15 Pro Max. My 15 Pro Max heats up more than my 13 but I also use this one differently and more heavily. As for battery life, my 13 lasted longer but I also use my 15 more heavily and my 15 is set at 80% limit. I will say that software updates have definitely improved the heating issue though.
My 13PM has 95% battery life, and my wife has it. It can easily outlast my 15PM. I wonder if it’s the AOD that’s the root cause of the reduced battery life, or if I just use the 15PM differently than the 13PM.
I also miss the bling of the stainless steel. It was a sweet looking device. The titanium is nice, but it doesn’t look quite as nice (although it’s much more comfortable to hold).
Personally really enjoy my 15 pro, I find the battery to last for ages and the display to be really nice and clear. The 13 pro was a great phone though, it’s what I had before I upgraded to the 15. Maybe just needs some getting used to.
I miss my old iPhone too. I mean, I still have it and use it, but apple took it away.
My “new” iPhone still has good battery life, but just turning the screen off and back on will force an app reset. The keyboard is janky and borderline useless. The camera app occasionally crashes. Safari doesn’t render all pages correctly or gets hung in a refresh loop. Every app takes up over 400mb now. I get the SOS cell bug. FaceID forces using a pin at least once a day. Weather app is bugged. Volume bugs out sometimes. My AirPod pros hiss like mad (store declined warranty repair). Apps restart multiple times a day.
Yeah, I miss my old iPhone. The new one (my old one with new iOS) is a dumpster fire. I’m not willing to risk $1200 to find out how much is software sabotage and how much is hardware. My samsung backup phones just get better and better with every release. Thanks for listening.
I went from a 12 pro to a 15 pro. Besides being disappointed that the battery life doesn’t seem any better, I’m content. I haven’t had any over heating issues or issues of any sort.
I have a 14 Pro. I tried the 15 Pro and returned it. I fully realize the 14 pro is still top of the line, but regardless:
I just didn’t like the way the titanium felt. For some reason to be the stainless steel just feels more substantial and solid, and I normally like light weight things. I’m probably in the minority but I like the way the 14 pro felt better.
And yeah, the battery life didn’t seem great. Granted the 14 Pro’s isn’t exactly amazing either but it gets me through the day.
I’m going to wait for some refinements to the new titanium build. But honestly, once the standard series gets 120hz, I’ll probably stop buying Pros.
I always wonder why people are not pleased with batteries on their phone. My phone is 3 years old and still lasts me the entire day with no problem at all, and I know damn well that the 13 has a muuuuch better battery
15 pro max, no overheating, excellent battery. If you hate it so much go sell it
