Hey all, ***I’m in 🇨🇦.
Sold my 996 last fall after 4 years of ownership. Been watching the 991.2 market since the spring. No signs of depreciating ever! Wow the market is that strong on these cars? I want to make the jump but having no warranty on 100k vehicle+ scares me a bit. I went to see one yesterday, carrera S, mint all dealer serviced. Not my interior of choice and oddly the water pump is still original! I’ve read so much that these have major problems with them.
My other option: C8
Put my name on a couple dealer lists for a C8 in April. Never got called until now. 2024 model. Told them I’d get back to them as I wasn’t impressed by the huge price jump( 15 k on my spec, yes I’m in canada)
For around the same price as a 2017 carrera S, I can get a brand new C8. My wife says porsche …no question about it. We also have 2 little kids so the back seats would be nice.
I’ve never had a car with warranty, always bought used for the past 20 years. I assume either I get a PPI or buy one with extended warranty? C8 I just drive and not worry about headaches for 5 years. They are pretty bulletproof so far minus some early cars having problems with the DCT tranny.
I’d like to get into tracking also. Always to scared that my 996 would blow up if i tracked it. 2017 carrera s, good for the track? C8 with z51 seems setup perfectly for it.
Lastly, which holds value better? Seems both are great at doing that for various reasons specific to the brand. Overall 911s might have the edge in the long run.
Whatever I buy will be stored till the spring. *** and yes it’s -6 and snow planned for tomorrow!! O canada.
Appreciate your thoughts.
You can probably find CPO 911 quite easily.
Z51 suped up will be a rocket.
Buy the vette… more 911s for us
Many people have considered this question. The ones that choose the Porsche go on to live happy, successful, and long lives full of passionate sex. The ones that choose the C8 go on and wonder why the fuck they ever did that
People have covered the difference in the cars but also remember service. Having to go to a Chevy dealership for service after getting used to getting service at a Porsche dealership will seem like getting waterboarded.
Find a 991.2 C2S with PDK and rear wheel steering. I’ve had mine for over 5 years. I’ve driven a C8. It doesn’t compare
The C8 is obnoxious to drive every day. Its just loud and big and very showy.
The 911.2 is the exact opposite.
BRUH lol
Get a 991.2 RS. I love mine. I passed on my c8 allocation.
I suggest the new car would be better overall. I say this as a 992 owner. As long as you don’t mind the quirky interior, its a bargain.
“My wife says porsche …no question about it.”
