Based in Miami. TLDR, want to test drive or rent for half a day to figure out my ultimate preferences between coupe and convertible as well as automatic and manual transmission. Anyone with experience in the area I’d love to hear from. Would you just go to dealership? Turo? Both?

Been doing a lot of research on and narrowed down to 2018-2020 year 718, 911 Carerra S. I’m also down for a targa 4 gts if the price is right. Also helps that I’m getting a pretty unexpected fat payout from someone totaling my old car

I’m not worried about the actual price too much, but I am keen on preserving value so I can trade up a few years later. Very excited and love to hear from folks on any and all advice even if it’s random nuggets of wisdom that you wanna pass along to a first time Porsche owner

I’m actually also traveling for work and personal stuff to Dallas, and west coast next couple weeks and will need to rent a car so to the extent that hertz or Avis etc have something decently priced I’ll try to kill two birds one stone

Based on what you would spend on a 2018-2020 Carrera S, you can buy a brand new 718 GTS 4.0. You can’t go wrong with either of these choices. If you need a back seat, get the 911. If you don’t need the space, get a 718. The 992 Carrera T and 718 GTS 4.0 are the two most special non-GT cars Porsche currently makes. They will also hold their value well, making trading “up” down the road easier.

Thanks!! never really considered new as I thought there might be a really long wait. I don’t need a backseat so 718, especially if I can find one oak green color. Any specific features you’d recommend? I heard that sport chrono package is important re resale value for example even though I don’t really care either way about stuff like that.

Why do you say they are the most special? And any thoughts on how you’d run the math on depreciation over the next 3-4y assuming I am putting 5k miles a year
