My kid manually locked my Mazda c-x5 while my purse was in the house (with the fob) and it locked us out while it was still running (was defrosting the windows)
Apparently we glitched the system and it’s not registering my car fob to unlock it now, so I need my car to die so it can reset and I can use my fob to get in.

We recently bought it and just found out we have no key in the fob. 🙃

It was NOT remote start, he pushed to start it.
I know remote start runs for like 15 min then it will turn off but I think I read after Idling for x amount of time it will auto shut off.
Is that true and for how long will it idle.
Thanks!
Can’t pop the trunk either? How much gas was in the car lol
Hold up doesn’t the fob have a physical key in it and the door knob has a key hole? Just use that.
What year and mileage? You could call Mazda roadside assist, any remaining original warranty is still in effect. If it’s Certified Preowned you may have roadside assist for that too.
Call a locksmith?
If you have the app I think you can turn the engine off with the app, or even unlock the car with the app.
Your key fob has a manual key in it you can use to unlock the driver door.
Idk about Mazdas, but some cars turn off after an hour of idling. I’ve experienced it with some Chevy and Toyota cars. I’d keep trying to troubleshoot with MyMazda app. Maybe clear the cache and try again?
It never shut off unfortunately. If we had done remote start, it would of shut off after 15 minutes, but because it was push to start it never did.
Basically looks like perhaps once the car is running, at least in push to start mode, the fobs and app basically lock you out from using them. 🥴 LOL
Because it’s still a new purchase (We bought it through enterprise car sales dealership) it’s covered for them to pay to send roadside to come out and unlock it! Woot!
They put it under priority, and the guy came within like 25 / 30 minutes.
Car is unlocked and turned off and the dealership is going to get back with me on hopefully being able to get me at least one key to put in our fob.
Okay, but…is your windshield defrosted 👀
Nice one
Hopefully a dealer can find out the key plate number and just have the mechanical key cut for you (instead of having to get the fobs reprogrammed as well) They aren’t laser cut either so you can get duplicates easily. Glad it worked out! (I keep one in my wallet…it’s small enough and fits in a compartment)
Our police department will open ours. Ask me how I know 🤪
This happened to me in my cx-30! I didn’t have the key either in the fob. I couldn’t get in and I was in the middle of no where after a snow storm! It was horrible. I tried everything to unlock it it just said “key not detected” finally after 45 minutes the truck randomly unlocked and I could open it and opened and I was able to climb in. Horrible experience. The Mazda guy said they would be there in 2 hours when I asked for assistance through the app. The app unlock buttons wouldn’t work either.
Oh wow! That does sound awful 😳 We were at home so we waited inside. Having to wait in the snow would suck!
Use the age old trick of stuffing a potato into the exhaust, it will not do any damage to such a new car and blocking the exhaust will shut the engine down
I’ll have to remember this. Thanks.
It seems from the down votes that others disagree or are jealous of my memory ;)
the principle of blocking the exhaust to stop an engine is a well known in my local community and is used by using a foot clad in a flip flop to stop bikes where the key is missing
