has also been looking into the possibility of taking over the credit-card program, some of the people said. "
Well, interest rates are gonna go up. Looks like I’d be canceling my card if it switches to them.
So… safe to assume there will be no disruption to Apple Card users besides changes coming to the terms and conditions?
So what happens to my Apple Card?
LOL Goldman bailed. They lost a ton of money. And then Apple found out that they had enough leverage to foist it off on someone else. Then Apple ‘pulls plug’.
See, their greed is starting to become Walmart-esque, where they burn all their suppliers.
The new issuer should be Barclaycard to go full circle
Other people’s mileage may vary, but Goldman’s phone support was great.
I don’t know about their phone support… I hate talking to support over the phone, but their iMessage support was stellar.
Honestly. I had to call when I purchased the 15p and setup payments and they were super awesome
Goldman really bent over backwards for Apple.
Makes sense… with the 0% financing and never carrying a balance, I’ve probably been a net loss AC user for them.
CC companies hate people who pay their balance at the end of every month.
The bank, card network, and processor all make fees off every transaction. I charge ~$70,000 per year on my card while paying in full every month. I get ~$1,200 back as a reward. The various institutions split an average of 2.5% per swipe…or ~$1,750 (though probably higher).
No such thing as a free lunch, my friend. As you pay more on everything at retail as prices rise to cover.
Yep, good old processing and interchange fees. Someone has to pay them.
What always strikes me as odd is how the card is laser-etched, made of titanium, 3 times as heavy as a plastic card - which all sounds very exclusive - yet the guy with the 650 credit score can get one…??
Yeah and on the other end, I have a great credit score and I was pretty insulted at how little of a credit limit they gave me.
because that 650 credit score person will spend more than they can afford on the card, get into a pile of debt, and be a customer until they die, trying to pay the card off
It’s not odd at all when you consider 80% of Apple’s customer base is pretending to be the other 20%
It would be nice for Apple Card to partner with a CC available in Canada.
Well, crap. I have both the Apple card and a savings account with them through the card. I’m a little concerned right now.
Nothing to be concerned about. At the VERY WORST the accounts close, and you will have plenty of time to move your money elsewhere.
This mean my crippling debt goes too?
Dang. This stinks. Auto populating card info is really nice.
That will still work with any cards you have saved in keychain.
Eli5: Does Apple have a bank account that’s set for payments/refunds for credit card holders?
Like, do they have a line of credit that creates new lines of credit beneath the main one whenever someone gets a new Apple Credit Card?
Goldman Sachs is the bank. They provide the lines of credit. Apple is the user interface.
Is my hysa fucked now?
Worst case scenario is the close it, but you will have PLENTY of time to move it to another one. Most likely scenario is another bank takes it over, and there’s zero you need to do on your part.
Other than paying off my large Mac purchases over time, I’ve found very little use for this card in the wild.
Bank of America select cash back does 3% on all online purchases, including apple.
Chase freedom does 1.5% on everything. (which is a negligible difference from the 2% Apple Pay perk)
The combination really puts apple only perk as 0% APR.
I’m sure someone will vehemently tell me how wrong I am but, this is basically an in store credit card good for deferring payments only.
Love how people spin things. You say 2% is a negligible difference from 1.5%, but people will shoot you dead if you dare use the physical card to only get 1% (which is a negligible difference from 1.5%)
I say use what card works for you.
Don’t forget purchase protections, extended warranties, point transfers, all of the bonus features provided by competitors even at 1.5% CB. Some offering more CB for other categories.
Apple Card didn’t have an advantage in any category other than convenience.
The only benefits Apple Card has that others might not is no foreign transactions fees on a no AF card, wider acceptance of MC than AMEX, ease of use in the Wallet app, and 0% financing with 3% cash back on Apple products.
