So, Lenovo claims 1200:1 contrast ratio, which is pretty low, exacerbated further by a matte screen. I’ve had a budget ZenBook (glossy) and I thought it had a low contrast, but this screen’s black levels are actually much worse.
Based on NotebookCheck (which measured slightly higher contrast 1297:1) review, its black levels should be around 0.32, which is not that high for IPS. Visibly, however, mine is clearly higher, there are NO blacks (and I don’t expect OLED level blacks) here, only light grey. I must add that it is my first time having a matte display, and while I appreciate not having to see reflections, is this what I have to sacrifice for it?
Is it normal for all matte IPS screens? Or did I get unlucky with the screen? Luckily almost no backlight bleed though…
IPS screen have a normal contrast ration about 1000-1500 and it is normal to see greyish blacks especially in darkest eoom
