I’m talking barebones. Tetris. Picross-like. Something that requires very little thought and is addictive.

For background, the reason I’m asking is because I recently read that researchers found that participants in a study on traumatic events saw that people who played tetris during their recovery had less traumatic response/activation over time? I’m currently going through a pretty traumatic time in life and am just looking for games that activate my lizard brain to forget about the hard times for a little while. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend dicey dungeons. It’s only 15 bucks but goes on sale pretty often, it’s got an incredible soundtrack, it’s very charming, it’s turnbased so you don’t need to worry about time when making your moves, and most runs end in 20-30 mins. The only caveat is there is a character that gets insanely insane hard, but she’s the last one you unlock, and also all the dlc is free and you don’t need to beat the game with the super hard character to play the dlc, but you do need to beat her series of levels to beat the final boss of the vanilla game.

I’ve been dealing with some crazy insane shit in my life the past 6 months or so and dicey dungeons has been my go to unwind game. I normally disregard deck building games — it’s sort of like slay the spire but very cute and charming and more simplified— but something about dicey dungeons just sinks it’s teeth in me.
