I’m talking barebones. Tetris. Picross-like. Something that requires very little thought and is addictive.

For background, the reason I’m asking is because I recently read that researchers found that participants in a study on traumatic events saw that people who played tetris during their recovery had less traumatic response/activation over time? I’m currently going through a pretty traumatic time in life and am just looking for games that activate my lizard brain to forget about the hard times for a little while. Thanks in advance.

I’d say any game with a grind, in other words, RPG’s. Sure there’s a story and progressing in the story requires thought but you can pick and choose when you want to progress. If you just want to sit there and grind for hours at end, you can do that and the longer you do it, the easier the game gets. Eventually you can beat the game and add another notch to your gaming belt so it doesn’t feel like a complete time loss.

Also skateboarding games. No thought process required. Just do big combos until time runs out. Do that constantly trying to beat your best score.
