I dream about the day something like that happens in Montreal. Pretty sure it will remain a dream forever…
I wish private vehicles were taxed yearly based on the damage they do to the roads divided by the average number of passengers based on vehicle type. Road damage scales with vehicle weight to the fourth power.
Should be incorporating “cost to society and environment” to be more generic. Rolling coal, loud-ass exhaust and danger to pedestrians should not go unsanctioned.
To be fair, there aren’t many of these in downtown Paris in the first place. Probably way fewer than in American or already German cities. This referendum feels more symbolic than anything else.
Better stop something before it becomes a problem.
