TLDR: Everton have been immediately deducted ten points for being ~£20M (Everton claim it’s only £10M) over the FFP threshold (can’t have more than £105M loss over 3 years).

Just wondered what everyone thought? On the one hand, you could argue it’s harsh because administration is usually ‘worth’ a 9 point deduction, on the other hand, you could say it sends a strong message about the importance of everyone following the rules?

    FFP strikes again…

The saviour of football clubs and all round sporting integrity hits home exactly at the right time…

Everton are currently in the process of selling the club and this will naturally put a spanner in the works.

FFP is a selective corporate monopolising technique which has tarnished football since the owners of the biggest clubs in the UK (and subsequently Europe), clubbed together in a dimly lit room with the sole aim of stopping any ‘piffling little club’ from winning anything significant. The dream is now almost impossible and it comes as no surprise that Everton have been smashed with FFP just when they are on the brink of selling their club and building a new stadium.

FFP has not protected a single club ever and nor it will. The PL and FL ‘pick n choose’ as to who they “FFP” smash next based on either rock, paper, scissors or which club is proving a danger to the status quo and it is disgusting. Hopefully one day this appalling stain on football will be confined to history.

Don’t worry, Everton fans… you’re only two points from safety. It’s probably the best season to get a points deduction.

Last time a points deduction happened in the Premier league was Portsmouth, right?

I can think of 115 reasons why a certain club should also get a punishment along with Everton.

Yeah, it’s probably the best situation if you have to have a deduction. Although it’s being reported that several clubs (possibly up to 5) are thinking about suing them from compensation which adds a bit of a complication…i can’t quite see that happening though. I mean if the points deduction had happened in the offending season, Burnley would have survived instead, so they might have a case (for reduced revenue compensation) but I’d be surprised if anyone else had any realistic claim?

Nothing to do with that at all, it is quite clear how they got their success and it isn’t right at all, them and Chelsea, it pains me to say it but the only clubs with honour so to speak who have won the league the past 5 or so years is Liverpool and Leicester, City and Chelsea though don’t deserve anything they have at all, this being said by a man united fan who cannot stand Liverpool in anyway shape or form but at least they don’t cheat their way in the transfer market.

Of course they decide to give these cunts a point deduction this season when there’s no real threat of relegation and not last season when they should have experienced Championship football for the first time ever. We all talk about Chelsea and Man City being in bed with the FA and while that’s true, it also proves Everton is in bed with the FA given they escaped punishment last season for no reason other than the FA was afraid to send them down to the Championship outside of footballing conflicts. The FA is afraid to punish clubs they know are too big to go down and Everton is proof of that.

Hopefully Burley, Leeds, and Leicester City sue the fuck out of these leeches they’d have to restart their club all the way down in the 9th tier.

Because the admins, journalists and accountants get all dewy eyed about the Mersey Derby. Like you could have that not happening?

In my view, there is definitely a pecking order of clubs in the mind of the FA and Journos. None of them gave a fuck when Coventry were relegated for the first time ever. They only started caring about City or Chelsea when they started spinning money.

      And for the record:

1: While I think there has to be some sanity brought to the transfer market, I’m not sure the FFP Profitability and Sustainability as they stand rules are really the solution.

2: There are rules and a process (which includes appeals). If they apply the rules and your club comes up wanting, how about shout at your club’s management rather than scream “Waaa! Not fair”.
