Have been playing Elden Ring a lot on the Deck and it was a pretty great experience already, mostly 30fps but some bad stuttering and frame drops in certain areas of the map on high but still very playable.
The game feels waaaay smoother now and the few drops I experienced were extremely minor. Super ACTUAL rock solid 30fps. I even got stable 40fps in a dungeon.
In addition, because of the SMT fix, the annoying frame pacing issues on GameCube and Wii games is now completely gone. Mario kart Wii was especially bad, now 100% perfect from what I can tell.
Post the improvements you’ve noticed!
Cult of the Lamb actually runs at 60fps native (high detail, all the visual distortion effects disabled like vignette and dof) most of the time now with some small dips here and there, previously it was hovering around 45 most of the time with more frequent drops. Made a huge difference.
Well gosh darn, better update my deck before I hop on my flight in a few hours!
So far NBA 2k23 which I could almost bet would freeze if I paused it for very long or almost a guarantee on some games completely crashing (all my league play no online play which I don’t play in sports games) now I’ve played two solid games and no issues whatsoever and it’s great because I’m in the playoffs lol
Now to see the OLED benchmarks against comparable firmware.
Wouldn’t it be funny if performance on the OLED model was actually worse?
Yup, I switch to preview and the later parts of Oxygen Not Included which use to get a bit laggy, are smooth now. The presence is real with the update. And they just fixed the notification lag too so now it’s even better.
Good time to try Tales of Arise then
Has external monitor support been fixed on 3.5? I’ve heard prior test versions of 3.5 broke external monitor / docking support.
Anyone try Red Dead 2? Any improvements?
Red dead 2 is locked at 40fps with a 40hz refresh. I have about 150 hours on the deck. Runs like butter
using high settings and capped to 40fps in Elden Ring. Depth of field and grass turned to low. this is a huge boost (60 hours in)
do you use cryoutilities?
So mix updates and overall dev optimization, the Decks potentially a real game changer compared to the big 3.
I was too excited to read about increased output from the audio jack when I opened this post.
Wow the GC/Wii/PS2 news is music to my ears. Thats easily what I’ve played the most of so far on my deck, but I was extremely limited to which games would run well. If I can run NFL Street and Champions of Norrath without huge stutter I’d be the happiest gamer.
Noita running better then ever on the SD, great update!
Wow yeah you weren’t kidding. Went from mid-30’s (had to lock to 30fps) to rock solid 45 lock in warframe steel path undercroft.
FINALLY someone mentions this issue 😭 mario kart wii had always performed like hot ass for me and no one else seemed to have that problem… hopefully this means it’s fixed
