Say I’ve missed three rent payments. And say there was a plan i was asked to put togethet and I kindq gave them an rosy intent payment plan .
But now I’m worried that even if I do pay it up, they cqn evict me out. And what is the max time i cannpay it?
Like an i screwed just because we did have that first plan already thaf i wasnt able to implement at the time…
Like am I absolutely fucked or are there lateral approaches here. I will pay it for sure, just not sure if they’regoing to takw thatand wish me well with all my things on the road
If your landlord is the type to want to evict you legally, well, last I heard the Landlord and Tenant Board was still kind of backlogged, so you may have a grace period of uncertain length to sort things. There’s a process the landlord is supposed to go through, and it takes a while.
If your landlord’s the type to hire a couple of big, beefy guys to throw you out on the street without waiting for the legal proceedings, there isn’t much you can do.
Here’s some facts and tips about repayment plans with the landlord: https://www.acto.ca/production/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/PaymentPlan_Tipsheet_tenants.pdf (taken from this site).
The best thing to do is to pay off the rent and arrears. If it’s possible to follow the “rosy” rent plan you put forward, then do it. But, if things don’t go well and the landlord begins to pursue eviction, then best to contact a legal clinic: https://www.legalaid.on.ca/legal-clinics/ You may wish to do that anyway.
Thats definitely the plan, just gotta gdt myself ouuta the way first :(
Im jsut worrried its too late and im going to be on the streets, no matter how much I pay back
Pay your fucking bills.
If you’re paying then the landlord/tenant board will dismiss the case because they have too many
If they illegally evict you then the board won’t consider you a tenant and not hear your case
We have a thing set. Ill do whatever I can to get hack on track and catch up, if thats still in motion as we hit the tribunal, will they kick me out or simply say to carry on if they’re uktinately getting paid
Depends on how big of a landlord it is but you will likely continue on
Consult a lawyer before your hearing because they can find loopholes to keep you in and try to find a different place if anything is affordable because an unhappy landlord is going to be rough
I can’t wait for Ontario’s housing sector to crash and burn
