Looking into it and realising I have no intention of upgrading to the OLED, it’s made me question what it would take for me to trade in my OG deck for an upgrade.
The big 3 for me would be Freesync, 90hz refresh rate (with VRR for lower speeds, 30, 60 and 90 would be a dream) and USB4 with eGPU support.
What about you guys?
20%+ FPS. Oled is nice but if you run everything on low and at 20FPS is such a great experience.
More battery life, smaller, thats it
An overall better performing unit. Idgaf about a screen or battery life ATM. Also, I’m only 2 months into this one so an investment in another feels kinda silly
Quadruple the performance upgrade. 👍🏿
Damn, these must have lists are getting shorter. Valve is killing it.
1080p and hardware that’s designed for it.
I am still waiting for a real steam console for fullHD 60fps gaming - with SteamOS and a steam controller 2.
I just bought this one, I have no desire to switch to an OLED. Plus just about every OLED product I own has some sort of screen burn so I’m not thrilled about that personally
I’m happy with my original deck, it does everything I want and more.
There would have to be a substantial performance uplift to attract me at the moment, OLED screen or not.
The Dock is adding FreeSync Support.
Q: What’s it going to take? A: About 10 years, theft, a fire, or an internal repair more expensive than a new device.
The OLED version tells me the things I can look forward to with the next generation of Steam Deck/Handhelds. My LCD Deck works fine and I’ve never had a problem with how it looked.
It’s going to take either my current Deck breaking or an improvement in processing power without a loss in battery life. Then I’ll upgrade.
1080p screen 75hz/120hz with Freesync support, minimal bezels and screen estate that doesn’t go outside of current Deck’s bezels. I want a handheld not a tablet.
Steam Deck 2 with a lot more power.
Even more onboard memory and a higher processing speed. Even then I’d think very long and hard about it.
