A Liga trophy followed eight months later, one that restored winning ways but papered over some clear cracks in his side. Yes, Barca were good enough defensively to win the league, but their attacking quality was lacking. This was not the La Masia-bred, Cruyffian, Pep Guardiola football that Xavi had promised. This was a Jose Mourinho-esque side that grinded out results.
He needs time to mould the team back into the Barca way and the fact that he already won the league suggests that he’s overachiever.
Word for word, bar from bar - Soulja Boy
But in all seriousness, when it comes to GOAL.com articles I read them not for analytical discussions but as pure entertainment. They change positions so often.
You read GOAL.com posts because you like seeing them change positions so often.
🤣
You know what, that’s a fair assessment.
But then that leads me to a question for you, where do you get good football discussion?
The Athletic? Statman Dave? RabonaTV?
As a Dutch person imma just say it’s all because Frenkie de Jong is injured
Imo the league is ripe for the picking for them again. Madrid don’t have a striker who can score goals and are potentially one win away from faltering. Don’t think Girona can keep pace while Atleti I don’t think are good enough but we will see.
Who is to say that City group wont reinforce Girona using players from one of their other teams? Its the reason Girona are where they are to begin with.
One win away from faltering?
Injury my bad…don’t think there was ever a win away from faltering lol!
Xavi is the best possible coach for Barca, people overestimate the squad that Barca has
I think Xavi is overestimating the squad that Barca has considering how many of them he’s signed.
His squad is good enough to beat Shakhtar Donetsk
Then we’re doomed to mediocrity for many years to come.
We’ve been mediocre since Lucho left.
Aaah puyol
Brother the defensive side also crumbles without de Jond
I think Xavi has a good game plan, not very Barcaesque in terms of playstyle. Has done a lot for a sinking Barca. and that is coming from a real Madrid fan. He kinda recovered the faith in la Masia with Pedri (Although not originally from la Masia), Gavi, Lamine, Fermin, etc.
Still I can’t stand him as a person, will blame the earths rotation before he admits his team played like shit
What do you expect him to do, he is keeping Barcelona competitive with the money he’s allowed to spend, while Barcelona gave him scraps Real Madrid have been spending big money. I don’t follow Barcelona that deeply but La Masia graduates were ignored for a while under the old regime and that can have a long term effect on the quality of graduates, still he integrated some young players into the squad and he looks like he’s doing great balancing incoming players with academy grads (at least to an outsider like me). Cruyffian football needs very specific profiles, without a proper backing from the board it is very difficult.
Asking more of him is asking too much in my opinion.
He was the first to ignore young players ( Koeman belived in la masia players way more than Xavi), and only started playing Balde after he was forced to play him. This is the opinion that i heard from most Barca fans
To have Pep style football you need Pep style players. You can’t just paper over that. The squad lost Messi/Xavi/Iniesta/Busquets/Alba. The fuck, and I mean what in the actual fuck is the expectation? For teams to keep playing the same way?? How long did it take from Cruyff to Pep? Oh let’s see, 20 spends years!! But of course let’s have it happen in a day now. Ffs.
Xavi soon going back to coach Al-Hari Hahara.
he dont have the players with barca dna
He deserves to finish this season atleast.
Bro yall are acting like he should win trophies again and again. Lets be real you cant expect Xavi to make a squad out of 3.5mil and some loan players who are league winning worthy on top of which the league prez is a Madridsta He will have some difficulties and he may have made some wring decisions no doubt. But the press is coming out and talking about sacking him is insane
The forward that Xavi bought were really expensive, more than 100€M combined. Xavi is making mistakes but he’s also really young in his manager life, so let’s see.
Comparing La Xavineta to Mou… OP is either Madrid fan or is stupid as fuck. I am very upset everytime I see lies like these. Sorry everyone. Xavi’s team last season was winning the league at a record pace, only after getting a lead of +11 points or something like that they started losing points. Xavi’s team beat all top teams in La Liga in their direct matches while controlling the game, possession and chances. Often scoring the famous 4 goals games. Of course the press will highlight more the 1-0 games. Of course the press will praise Madrid for clutching games in the last 10 minutes while attacking Barca for doing the same. Xavi’s team until recent weeks was the team in La Liga, probably Europe with the highest chances created. Go back to your cave OP
I mostly saw the worst generation of strikers in la Liga for a long time but the midfielders are really great.
Barca dogs and crying about Real Madrid. Name a more iconic duo….
This has nothing to do with Real Madrid. But I’m glad you always think of your father.
