Hey all,

I’m thinking of getting the OLED Deck, but I wanted to ask if there’s any way to transfer over these things:

  • Installed games on my SSD
  • Installed games on my SD card
  • Save data
  • EmuDeck settings
  • Roms and emulators
  • Decky Plugins (I’m assuming I’ll have to reinstall these, which isn’t a big deal)

Thanks in advance!

If you have an external drive of some kind that is big enough, you could use Clonezilla to write it to an image and restore that image file into the new Deck (assuming it’s at least the same size). You could also do a direct drive copy if you have an m.2 enclosure and pull one of the drives out.

    Yes.

    1. For the internal drive, update your LCD Deck’s SteamOS to 3.5, then either clone it over to the new one, or straight up pull the old drive and shove it in the new one - Valve engineers say it will “just work.” However, you need to be on 3.5 for this, because 3.5 is what introduces some of the file dependencies that the OLED Deck needs to work.
    2. For stuff on the card, you’ll need to just insert it. If you didn’t clone/install the old drive, you’ll need to reinstall emudeck and it should find your roms if they’re on the same card, and Decky too.
