Hi,

I’m looking into extending an HDMI input to a different room using HDMI extenders via Ethernet. Unfortunately it is going to be too hard to use a new cable from room to room. Can I plug them in via ethernet via the wall sockets and extend them like that?

It’s possible as long as the wire in the wall goes to where you need it to go. It can’t be through a switch, so both ends need to be the same cable. Just search HDMI over Ethernet on Amazon. Both ends need power as well.

If you have 2 runs you can do passive hdmi over ethernet. Probably not great for the higer bandwidth signals as well.

If your allready transcoding just go for the extenders that use IP and can go through a switch.
