Why is the rj45 port not flush? Fail.
I’ve been super excited ever since I figured out that I can boot from external USB-C M.2 enclosures, like this one.
Performance is still quite good booted off external (Gen 3) drive, which allows me to use my whole internal drive for my primary OS rather than having to partition it for dual booting.
Nice! I have a similar enclosure, and I’ve been thinking about building a little multi boot/backup/portable os drive, but wasn’t sure if I could get it all to work together.
I played with ventoy and it’s really convenient for storing isos to boot from, just haven’t tried using the extra space for storage/os.
Using this for my charging/docking cable. It does stick out on the USB-C port on this laptop. Thinking about modifying the port to make it flusher. On my other laptop it would not have a gap. I switch between laptops on my docking station often, so it’s just easier when it’s attached by magnets. Same with charging which traveling, can’t accidentally yank the laptop somewhere lol
I’ve always found the magnetic attachers pretty cool, although never got into them because of the USB spec stuff. I didn’t know you could get ones that were more than just power/charging nowadays though!
Bought a 90 degree USB C cable and use it between power brick and my USB C charging port. Less intrusive. Needs to support USB Power Delivery specifcations.
