I don’t like those lower clocks, we’ll have to see benchmarks to see if they’re going to be worth it over a standard 5700X.

Bring it… i’ve a pile of people that were itching for the 5800x3D… and REALLY wanted the 5600x3D… but would gladly accept the 5500x3D i’m sure.

We went from Zen 3 being the last generation of AM4, to ZenX3D being the bonus generation of AM4 where the 5800X3D is the only chip with X3D technology, to 5600X3D being the final drip feed from microcenter exclusively where people told me it’s gonna be rare like 3300X, and to now 5700X3D and 5500X3D rumors floating on the horizon.

If it does happen, I would assume that it’s because of bad bins from 5600X3D and 5800X3D production, the 5500X3D would probably be another limited time Microcenter thing, the 5700X3D would probably stick around for awhile considering the supply of 5800X3Ds seems to still be very steady.

If this is true, I wonder how they would price them. You would also think they’d want to get more people on AM5 especially since 2024 is right around the corner, as is Zen 5.

member when everyone got real upset when I said that 5600X3D wasn’t some particular stream of downbins or failures and everyone got mad because the AMD rep had said it was some unique deal to get rid of failed yields

Kinda funny how they apparently decided to launch a bunch of mass-market parts on similar lines

It was always about controlling the downward slide of 5800x3d prices and indeed we have seen 5800x3d prices bounce back upwards. Same thing they did with launching the 7900GRE to control 7900XT prices from getting too low.

AM4 is the newer version LGA775.

Imagine going from something like Pentium 4 to Core 2 Quad Q9650 or Xeon X3380 (native LGA775 without need for mod).

That is the equivalent of going from 1st/2nd gen Ryzen to 5xxx X3D chip. It is possible that systems with B350/X370 boards might last for a decade of gaming.

the 5600x3d is currently $200 at microcenter, so the 5700x3d will probably slot in between 250 and 270. with the 5500x3d being sub 200
