Hey Lads was having a heated discussion with my mates over who u would rather have on your team, me being a newcastle fan am delighted in having gordon and think he has been exceptional for newcastle at the start of the season and really had a breakthrough u21’s euros with england and was arguably their best player in the tournament. However haven’t seen enough of cole palmer to really intrigue me is a great talent for sure and my friends were adamant he is better than gordon but want to get second opinions on it.

Both good young players with a lot of room for further development too. I think Gordon really suits the style that Newcastle play, and I think Palmer has fitted well into the space he has at Chelsea. Honestly a really tough choice, I’d probably take Cole because I think his eventual ceiling may be a bit higher.

I think it’s an odd comparison, as you say, they’re not the same style of player and sit in different roles. Palmer seems to be more rounded quality already, but Gordon is starting to get a more reliable end product on top of his pace. With those two, Bellingham, and Saka the England squad could be very tasty if we ever get a more attack-minded manager.

Those 4 feeding Harry Kane as well, with players like Grielish and Rashford who could swap in for any of those players. We might have the best squad in Europe rn

Sleeping on Sterling. Guy’s been electric in games this season. If he can get more consistent as the season goes on he should be in contention for our Euros starting XI at LW. Southgate loves his favourites but he just so happened to drop the one that’s back to his best. I’m hoping he isn’t too stubborn to stick by his decision because Sterling, Kane, Saka has worked well in the past and they’re all at the top of their game right now (except Saka but I feel like that’s due more to exhaustion than form).

People keep saying this about Saka but he’s on pace to outperform his G/A from last season. He’s 4 goals and 4 assists in 11 games where Jesus and now Odegaard, two of our most productive offensive players, have been absent for most of those matches.

I get it, he’s not as electric as Salah, Vini, or even Martinelli, so the eye test is extremely deceptive when looking at his performance. But he is doing just fine.

Yeah that was based purely off the eye test. Last season I just remember him going at the fullback basically all game every game. He’s still one of the best so is still getting plenty of goal contributions. But compared to how good he was last year I think he’s shown he’s capable of more. So in the sense that Kane is playing better than he ever has before. Sterling is arguably playing better than he every has before even if he’s not as prolific as his peak around 2019. Saka is still brilliant and starts for us current form. But we’ve seen him be even more potent last season.
