Honestly, I wanted the OLED simply because it has bigger screen. I tried my friend’s OLED Switch back then and the difference with my launch Switch, while subtle, brought me and my super bad eyesight much joy. I don’t even think much about the “true black” or the HDR, I just want the screen to be slightly bigger. One of my eyes has undergone lens replacement, so a bigger screen goes a long way.

However, I can also say that the 16:10 screen itself is already an improvement in my eyes; it’s much easier in the eyes for me compared to Switch, not to mention the framerate and frame pacing. Plus I don’t play on my Deck that much these days, so I can wait.

For me, it’s all about the more efficient screen, APU, and bigger battery. Just means I can play for that much longer without having to plug back in. Could not care less about the screen itself, as the LCD screen looks perfectly fine to me!

I am annoyed that I just bought my Deck a month ago, though…

I have to say that your saying the OLED Switch is a subtle difference really makes me worry about the state of your eyes. I never understood all the brouhaha over OLED screens until I got my OLED Switch because it looks so much better. It was actually pretty funny-I was just telling my husband the other day how I hoped the next Deck would have an OLED screen, then pulled up one of my gaming Discord channels three minutes later to find the OLED Deck had been announced. I’ll be waiting for the Deck 2 before I upgrade, but hopefully this means OLED will be an option from the start with the next major iteration.
