Hey folks! 🎮

Been out of the gaming loop for ages, considering a Steam Deck OLED for a comeback tour. The idea of playing some newer titles (Spiderman, Elden Ring etc.) on a mini OLED screen sounds right up my street. However, I was wondering if it’s up for the task of running classic RTS games like Age of Empires and Total War series smoothly in docked mode on a 1080p monitor?

Any insights or recommendations appreciated. Thanks! 🕹️

Not an RTS but Crusader Kings 3 and Stellaris play nice (CK3 with the UI mod). For TW games the screen is a bit small to organise your trops during a battle, at least for me.

I’ve had Crusader Kings 3 on my wishlist for a while, if it plays nicely with the Steam Deck I might just have to pick it up, thanks for the recommendation!

Yeah, I think I would have to use the dock mode/connected to a monitor to play TW games, although I’ll definitely give it a try handheld, just to see what a weird experience it is…
