I was driving to work the other day, engine started smoking up bad, had to get the car towed.

Turns out the I cracked cylinder head on my cx5, and even better it’s a known issue, a design flaw and one they have corrected. Yet the people with this problem are left to fit the bill. I have it sitting in the shop with a quote of almost 7 grand to fix.

I can’t afford this fix and I don’t know what to do, I wish I could just total the car at this point.

I love my car, she has been a great car and I have kept up on the services and everything, but now I’m left to deal with their flaw.

I’m out of warranty of course and I’m going to argue with the dealership and Mazda because this is utterly unacceptable and should have been a recall!

And plenty of other people had to deal with it too, thankfully nobody has been left stranded somewhere because of it.

Damn are you less than a year out of your powetrain warranty?

I had the exact same issue. 2019 cx5 touring w preferred package. No turbo. Noticed a smoky smell when I was running my ac one day. Got home a few min later and popped the hood and there was a tinnnyyyy bit of smoke coming from the back left of the engine. Took to stealership and they said it was a cracked cylinder head. Completely covered under powertain, I paid a $100 deductible. They said it was a known issue, something during manufacturing.

They had my car for 6 weeks to do the repair, I got my car back with almost 100 extra miles on it 🤔🤨

Works great now though, haven’t had any issue with the engine since. I would bug the fuck out of them for some kind of goodwill repair or discount or something. 7k fucking sucks for a car that is just barely out of powertrain. Apparently this is a known issue that didn’t effect enough cars to warrant a recall. Call Mazda direct, fuck the dealership.
