And they say Messi is FIFA’s boy. To deserve a puskás it had to be better than the puskás that won. And it has to be during or after the 2008–09 season (Puskás didn’t exist yet). He can have more than one. Some of my top contenders:

Massively under rated goal because he makes it look so easy but what he does is absolutely ridiculous.
The way he pops it off his shoulder to beat the first player then controls the ball two times in one step is just absurd.

Messi’s problem re: this particular award is that he makes most of his goals look easy and does them over and over again. They don’t feel like they came out of nowhere, which is a hallmark of the Puskas. Personally, his Bilbao goal was definitely better than the 2015 winner. I’d put the Madrid 2011 goal up there too.
But, I’ll also say that the winners deserved their awards too. The goals that won were ridiculous. 🤷♂️

Well, first you’d have to put up the actual winners of the award of each year to claim Messi’s goal is “Better”…
Because otherwise, this post is literally just a “Which Messi goal do you like best?” post.
In 2011 he had a Goal nominated that was crazier than the one against Real Madrid: The one he scored against Arsenal.
Still, I think Neymar’s puskas in 2011 was well deserved.
In 2015 he should have 100% won. I think the voting was different that year, and fun fact, the dude who won is currently a pro FIFA player lol, he retired in 2015
In 2018, his nominated goal against Nigeria is better than Salah’s goal imo
