I am going to be installing a small network in a little less than a month when we move. My ISP is going to be AT&T gigabit fiber. I plan to use the AT&T modem/router as a pass through and use my own router.

Here is my question. What router should I use? I do not plan to use the built in wifi with this router. I will have a 6Ghz mesh providing the wifi hooked up to my switch. I was potentially looking at the TP-Link ER7206 but wanted to get opinions. I want to have the option to integrate a NAS at some point.

The rest of my equipment is going to be: Eaton Tripp Lite patch panel (N252-P24) NETGEAR Switch (GS324) Tripp Lite 15A Rackmount PDU w/ surge (DRS-1215)

I am open to other suggestions as this is my first time doing a full home network. I’ve built several PCs and am a big gamer. My goal is best I can get on a budget.

Thank you in advance!

You might want to take a peek at the ER707-M2, which is one of TP-Link’s newer routers. It has 2 x 2.5Gb ports, 4 x 1Gb ports, and a 1Gb SFP port.
