I’m starting to build a tool collection for occasionally working on cars, boats and random DIY projects around the house. I’m looking for a screwdriver set, adjustable wrenches, combination wrenches, pliers set, pick set, ratchets, sockets, etc. I grew up with my Dad having all Snap-On but going that route doesn’t make sense for me as a weekend warrior. What’s the groups thoughts on Husky and Gearwrench? I like that their program is similar to Craftsman’s back in the day if something breaks. I have some Gearwrench combination wrenches and other random Schwaben tools for my euro cars too. What do you guys use?

My main mechanics set is 1991 Craftsman made in the USA. I have only ever used the warrant a couple times, cracked a couple sockets. I took those to Lowes and they replaced no questions asked. I broke my 1/2 inch drive about 10 years ago. They actually repaired that one at Sears. I really miss the Sears tool section.

I’ve seen some decent sets from Gearwrench. I say just buy the best you can afford without breaking the bank. I have some Harbor Freight stuff, their quality has improved over the years.

    Good luck
