I recently rewatched that clip because it’s so good.
He even did your namesake at the end of the clip!
That’s leadership material if I’ve ever seen it.
thanks you got me crying at work
My sincerest apologies
I’m not crying you’re crying
Absolutely fantastic scene
Damn i really did tear up
This was excellent television, a life lesson, dramatic conflict, demonstration of how professional adults deal with issues, a resolution… A real role model show
And a complete modern day fantasy of how we would like to imagine ourselves and fail to achieve such high morals because we instead act like the frightened cavemen we are more closely associated to in our current time.
It’s not a fantasy. You can conduct yourself to the standard. Just requires you to be reflective of your own actions. We can all do it.
Guys, if I wanted to start watching Star Trek, where do I start?
I watched Star Trek: The Next Generation first, then Deep Space 9, then started Voyager, but it wasn’t as good IMHO.
Now watching select episodes from The Original Series, select episodes from Voyager, Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks.
Edit: New - -> Next
Oh so we just gonna act like Enterprise wasn’t a thing now huh?
Which one? TOS or A->E?
It’s like the main ship 🙄
Star Trek: Enterprise? Also we’re up to 1701-G now.
oh man I think I was way too subtle with that one
Very helpful to suggest a new watcher to cherry pick from all the shows.
If you want to do it chronologically, start with TOS, TAS and their movies.
If you don’t care for the old style of acting and storytelling, start with TNG. Though the first two seasons can be a bit rough at times, the show finds its stride around the time riker grows a beard.
The two TNG spinoffs DS9 and VOY are also great, though voyager has a little less memorable characters than the other shows (with two obvious exceptions I don’t want to spoil).
When you have watched those three, you could delve into nutrek as well (discovery, Picard, strange new worlds, lower decks). Those are essentially modern Trek, which will feel a bit different, but most of them make reference to the TNG era and it is nice to have watched that already to get those.
I watched Star Trek: The New Generation
Thank you, fixed.
Strange New Worlds may be a good starting point. I know a lot of people will recommend The Next Generation or Deep Space Nine. They’re both good series, on a whole, but they both had teething problems in the early episodes. (TNG worse than DS9.) SNW is more consistent out of the gate.
TNG is a good entry point, but the first two seasons can be rough. Feel free to skip them if they’re on the verge of turning you off the series entirely.
Skipping S2 of TNG will mean missing some fantastic episodes. Imagine not seeing The Measure of a Man, A Matter of Honour, or Q Who.
Riker grows a beard in s2, which was such a dramatic shift in the show’s quality that it caused a new saying “Riker’s Beard”, which means the opposite of “Jump the Shark”.
The trope is actually called “Grow The Beard”.
I’ve only ever heard it called Riker’s Beard, but now I’ll know what it means if anyone ever says Grow The Beard!
Ignore the people saying to start with SNW. Start with season 2 of TNG, then go to season 2 of DS9 after finishing TNG, then you’re good. From there you can pick whatever you want, but nothing will ever be as good again. TOS can be fun, but it’s very dated and campy. The TOS movies are lots of fun, especially the one with the whales. Double dumb ass on you!
Are the TNG movies worth watching in your opinion? If so, should i watch TOS and TOS movies before TNG ones?
They’re okay, not great, not bad, just okay. There are references to the original crew of the Enterprise in the TNG show a few times, but I don’t remember any references in the movies. I think they can all be watched as stand-alone movies except for the Star Trek: Nemesis movie because there’s a major plot development in it.
Simple answer:
Episode 1 of Next Generation.
Then start watching Season 2 and skip any episodes that are boring.Step 3: Wrath of Kahn
Just load up the Star Trek channel on Pluto TV and see what’s playing. It’s free.
This, and the scene where Worf advises Data on picking a wedding present, are the two best Data/Worf scenes
Why does it have to include sexist stereotypes?
The meme is going directly against the stereotype. That’s its point.
That women are supposedly complaining about men not crying doing Titanic?
Alright fair, though I wouldn’t say that this is a stereotype. I read the meme as being men don’t cry/yes they do
That’s just a random example lol
10/10 meme, I nearly cried at this one
I think this is the best scene in all of Star Trek TNG.
If you know…
The line should be, “Sir - Klingon relationships weather far worse than polite rebuke.” As written, it is bone-dry, even in the context of Worf getting pulled aside and chewed out.
Wrong franchise but the line applies.
Amazing. Every word of what you just said was wrong.
…Peter David?
