This is what is giving me some form of confidence this season. I know gooners have been crying out for the swashbuckling footy of last season but to me we feel more mature, measured and less emotionally roller coastery-if that makes sense.
The goals will come and the attack will flourish but having a stable back line is key to any success we get this year.
As Arteta says, its process. Last year we learnt how to attack and this season we are learning how to defend and be solid. Next season hopefully we will learn how to tie them together.
It is interesting though as that is also how Arteta started his Arsenal career. Tightening the defence while our scoring dropped a lot compared to how it was during the Emery era.
A slight issue is of course that they are not independent of each other, asserting more control through reduced risk also gives less rewards. I guess that it’s about finding the right balance though.
Liverpool games are exciting, but so chaotic. In the end, they win comfortably yesterday, but they could easily have given down a goal as well. Away games will be much tougher when you can’t control the game.

I looked forward through the calendar and the next few weeks could see the table look a whole lot better for us…

Next season? It’s been 4 years of Arteta ball buddy. How many seasons do we need? We’re winning the league this year.
It’s hard enough to do without referees fuckin us over and an injury crisis
I’m hoping we learn how to tie them together this season

This season’s definitely better for my cardiovascular health
