Today’s short devlog, I’m preparing to enable the API on kbin.social - I want to improve a few performance-related elements before that. I’m also launching test environments, which takes a considerable amount of time. From visible changes, I moved the turbo mode to the sidebar, making it accessible even when logged in. This time, I’ll hold off on the update for a few days. Szymon has already found and fixed the first errors related to this mode.
What is turbo mode?
It’s a way of enabling a “single page” user interface:
Personally I don’t use it as it seems to conflict with some extensions I use.
You can currently enable it via your Setting panel:
but as Ernest mentioned, the setting to enable/disable Turbo mode will move to the sidebar.
By the way, I assume:
I moved the turbo mode to the sidebar, making it accessible even when logged in
should read “make it accessible even when not logged in”
I’ve enabled it, have to admit I’ve not noticed a difference when using the PWA - but I guess that’s the idea. I’ll take it on faith that it slightly faster & more responsive!
Site feels smooth now, top and side bars don’t move when navigating between pages.
Agreed. I’ve also noticed a few bugs, but they will be corrected over time.
