Context: I’m new to the series, never played before but everyone is screaming masterpiece so I have to try it - the game is LONG and so I feel like playing on the deck is my best chance to squeeze in sessions wherever I am no matter how long I have… however I am worried as I’ve heard there’s issues with performance (I’m not a performance stickler especially when it comes to turn based, but I would like to keep 30 fps if possible, however as long as it’s playable I guess it’s fine)

Or I can get it on my ps5 where I’ll have less performance issues but less accessibility to play — Would love feedback from first timers and people who love the game about steam deck experience with BG3 and what they’d recommend as I’ve been back and forth for a while

I pondered the same decision for a while.

I ended up getting it on Steam Deck knowing I’m getting not fixed 30 fps but it is playable once I setmy expectations right. The game (given turn based nature) lends itself really well to Deck’s pick up out down function.

I recommend going for it! I’m only in act 1 so far.

I also recommend watching a couple videos to learn about the DnD systems in BG3 as they were new to me and there’s lots of (good) complexity to battles and gameplay
