Context: I’m new to the series, never played before but everyone is screaming masterpiece so I have to try it - the game is LONG and so I feel like playing on the deck is my best chance to squeeze in sessions wherever I am no matter how long I have… however I am worried as I’ve heard there’s issues with performance (I’m not a performance stickler especially when it comes to turn based, but I would like to keep 30 fps if possible, however as long as it’s playable I guess it’s fine)
Or I can get it on my ps5 where I’ll have less performance issues but less accessibility to play — Would love feedback from first timers and people who love the game about steam deck experience with BG3 and what they’d recommend as I’ve been back and forth for a while
I just reached act 3 and I can’t feel like recommending playing this on Steam Deck, I have a very high tolerance for low framerates but what gets to me is the low responsiveness and the face textures not loading correctly occasionally. Some NPCs in demanding areas have literally huge pixels all over their faces and that breaks my immersion real hard and a bit too often for my tastes. Sometimes actions and menus take several seconds to update, and the game can become quite stuttery even on the absolute lowest presets due to CPU limitations. Of all the games I’ve played so far I can confidently sat this is the one that is totally worth double dipping if you can afford it, it has cross saves so you get the best of both worlds and once you see how much passion the devs have poured into it you won’t regret buying two copies.
