I have had mine for months, use it pretty much every day. Thought I understood the specs and upgraded my SSD etc.

I DIDN’T KNOW IT HAD A TOUCHSCREEN TILL I READ THE SPECS ON THE NEW DECK

I don’t use mine much, but it is nice to have occasionally. Some games have launchers that you have to either use the touchscreen or touch pads for. Some don’t even recognize the touch pads because of the controller setup. It’s nice to have, but I don’t know if it’s strictly necessary either.

I did use mine just the other day though in game. I started replaying Diablo 1 through DevilutionX, and there were a few times it was easier to click on the screen then to try to remember/figure out the keybinding.

It’s a testament to steam’s controller navigation! It’s good enough for you to not care about the touchscreen

I never liked using the touch screen on my switch nor deck. Hate the fingerprints. My use on the deck wouldn’t change without it.

I discovered the touch screen really early into having it and loved it. My only frustration with it is that some games absolutely demand a mouse and refuse to work with touchscreen!

I came in here seeing the title thinking “surely I’m dumber” only to be shocked and gain a bit of confidence. Thank you all for making me feel a tad smarter.

Yeah it’s rarely utilised, I’ll maybe sometimes use it in desktop mode. Other than that I don’t think I’ve ever really used it.

I use the touch screen all the time with tiny keyboard plug-in for decky. Touch is great!

I’ve always known about the touch but never used it. Especially since using the trackpads + the on-screen keyboard is satisfying to me, so I tend to even forget I can simply type on the screen.

The first game I played on my Deck was Skyrim which requires you to use the touchscreen to start the game, so I was thankfully aware of that feature before I got mine 😅

I’ve had my SD over a year and the screen has never responded to touch. Ever. I only found out yesterday that the touchscreen wasn’t the two touch pads… I’ve looked into troubleshooting tips to get it running. But it would’ve made setting up remote play apps so much easier to be able to touch the keyboard.
Probably would’ve made some games playable that I just assumed weren’t deck compatible.

I wonder how many people with steam decks that don’t have functioning touchscreens.

Like someone said, you’ve had to have accidentally touched the screen at some point and it should’ve done something. Well I’ve intentionally tried using the touchscreen and it’s never responded once. I don’t have a screen protector installed, it’s fully updated, even tried beta updates. I think I need to do the battery storage mode thing to test it or boot into BIOS and make sure it’s enabled. It’s fine if you don’t use it, but to not know that you SHOULD have the ability to and don’t is completely different. Talk about frustrating…

I only found out there is a touch screen yesterday; I’ve had my deck for over a year… It’s never worked for me, so I am going to try the power-vol+ battery storage mode to try and get it to work . … I saw stuff and touchscreens for months and just assumed it meant the two touch pads. But apparently, it has a touch screen.
